Ron committed his life to Jesus Christ and to missions when he was a senior in high school. He graduated from Princeton University (MA) and Biblical Theological Seminary (MDiv) and went on to serve as a senior pastor for 36 years where he was always active in vibrant outreach and missions ministry. From 1991 to 2011 he led many teams to serve with partner missions in Hungary and Bosnia. During this time, he became aware of the desperate plight, physically and spiritually, of the Romani people of Central Europe and the Balkans. At the same time, he attended a CHE vision seminar and realized he did not need to “recreate the wheel” to serve these people wholistically. In 2011, Ron and his wife Jeannie resigned from their jobs, took CHE TOT1 training, and headed to Hungary to start a CHE team. Joining with already-existing CHE teams in Bosnia and Albania, he helped form the CHE EuroNet to expand CHE programs throughout Central Europe and the Balkans. Jeannie and Ron retired from the field in January 2024.

If They Don’t Own It, Don’t Do It!
You enter an impoverished community for the first time, and immediately detect many disturbing needs surrounding you - obviously spiritual, but also educational, economical, hygienic, social, medical, legal, etc. Excitedly, you start making a mental list of what needs you’re going to tackle first and how you’re going to do it. You can’t wait to share your ideas with your team. Two years later, you still don’t seem to have gained any real traction in your community work - and your enthusiasm is waning. What’s missing?
